Hi there — Shaun Fawcett here. Welcome to my new Blog. You can scroll down to the previous post for Blog background.
It was four years ago this week that I posted my very first page of writing help info on my writinghelp-central.com Web site.
That’s hard to believe. It really does seem “just like yesterday”, as they say.
Earlier today when I was doing a quick mental review of the last four years, the thought struck me that if I had to chalk everything I’ve done up to one particular motivating factor, that factor would be “writer’s block”.
That’s right — it was my own painful bouts of writer’s block over the years, and how I learned to cope with them – and overcome them — that led me to eventually start dispensing advice and remedies online so that other people wouldn’t have to suffer to the extent that I did.
Of course, little did I know then, that four years later I would be Webmaster of two of the most visited writing help Web sites on the entire Internet, as well as the author of nine (9) writing help books/ebooks. Who knew? I certainly didn’t.
Now, I’m proud about the many hundreds of e-mails I have received from people all over the world telling me how one of my Courses, or one of my ebooks, has helped them in their daily lives. That really does make it all worthwhile! (Although I must admit, it does help when a few of the many people that benefit from the free writing advice, actually buy one of my products! It does help pay the rent and put groceries on the table.)
The fact is that “how to overcome writer’s block” is at the core of all of my writing help ebooks and courses. That’s what my “real-life templates” are all about. That’s why I provide downloadable templates with all of my products. That’s why I develop and share hands-on practical approaches such as the “template adaptation method.”
That’s why the slogan on all of my Web sites and ebooks states “Eliminate Writer’s Block Forever!”
That’s what it’s all about folks — eliminating writer’s block. I know the pain of writer’s block first hand, and it’s not very pretty. I know what it’s like to stare into a blank page or screen for hours, sometimes days, with your mind endlessly wandering. Believe me, I have personal, up-close experience with that kind of psychic pain.
But as they say — No pain, no gain. Right?
Well, it was my desperate efforts to escape the pain of writer’s block that led me to develop most of the tips, tricks and tools that I now incorporate into all of my writing products. Sounds like gain to me!
A couple of years back I wrote an article titled “7 Secrets For Beating Writer’s Block.” It’s among the most requested articles at my Writing Help Central site. You’ll find it at the following link:

Hi Shaun,
Like the new blog - Wordpress looks great! One small correction in your post - ‘writinghel-central.com’ should be ‘writinghelp-central.com’.

The whole new thing appears to be fine but what I still feel about creative writing is that it is a kind of an inborn quality.

Hi Shaun,
First let me say I enjoy reading your posts and thoughts.
Your article on writer’s block, although purpose driven, falls a bit short in actually
diving in to the topic. I believe that anyone who writes for any amount of time eventually
suffers from this malady; it’s unavoidable. Nearly every book written on the subject of
writing speaks to writer’s block, but in reality there are no “secrets” to overcome
what every writer experiences at some point in their wrting career. I like to say, my muse
fell asleep.
My suggestion for folks that go through this syndrome is to keep writing. That may sound
like doublespeak, but it is what works for me. I may not write anything purposful,
but as long as I’m putting words to paper, sooner or later I will find my way to where I
need to be.
Another useful tip that works for me is to stay away from the computer screen. I do
nearly all my serious writing the old fashioned way–a pencil, or pen, and a piece of paper.
Writing this way allows me the freedom to write anywhere I want, and anything I want.
It keeps the words flowing, and that is all we can ask for as writers.
Thank you for allowing me to post.
