Most of the visitors to my Writing Help Central website arrive with something very specific in mind for which they are searching. Because the site currently contains more than 250 pages and 200,000 words of writing help information, it can sometimes be difficult to find exactly what one is looking for.
So to help with this, I have recently created a “quick links page” that will allow many people to go directly to the info they want. For a link to that new page, keep reading:
As a webmaster, I have access to tracking tools that tell me various things about the visitors who come to my website. Things such as: where they clicked from, what browser they were using, the operating system of they were using, AND the last search word or phrase they used to get to my website.
By studying this info over time I have learned quite a bit about the writing-related information needs of my visitors. Naturally, I have used that info to guide me in developing most of the material on the Writing Help Central website.
Well, it turns out that (not surprisingly) many people arrive at my site as a result of using the search phrase “how to write xxxxxxxxxx”, where “xxxxxxxxxx” is a writing-related word or phrase. As a result, I have set up a “how to write quick links page” that lists the most frequent “how to” requests made by site visitors and provides direct links to where to find that specific info on the website. I’ve even ranked them in order of popularity.
There are the usual suspects of course like: how to write a resume, or a book, or an essay, or a book report, or a business letter, etc., etc. However, I must admit, I was a bit surprised when I discovered that a significant number of folks are actually searching for a phrase like “how to write a paragraph”. Nevertheless, when I thought about it I realized that I could actually offer a few tips on that very subject. So, you never know.
If you are curious at all about the list of 25 or so most frequent “how to write” searches, you can check out my new “how to write” links page, here:

Dear Mr. Fawcett!
I do agree and appreciate the updates. You are very right in saying that you never know who is unaware of what and who is looking for what. This change has increased the value of this site…
Up to now, I have recommended this site to almost 80% of my friends.
Thanks.
